My story so far as a Horse Dentist:
In 2006 I decided to follow my dreams of working with animals. I have always been fascinated by animals and being able to help them. I was never sure which path to take as I love the thrill of the big cats, the complete devotion of our canine friends and the majesty of the noble horse. I was fortunate enough to speak to my sister about it one day and realize that I could help horses in a way that I didn’t even know existed. Horse dentistry. My calling.
So the next thing I had booked my tickets and paid to go to the American School of Equine Dentistry in Virginia, under Dr R.Q.Hyde. Life as a horse dentist has begun.
11 years and counting
That was (Today) 11 years ago. What a journey it has been. I worked in the states for a period after school as a horse dentist. After that I headed back home to South Africa. My client bas has been mainly on jumpers and polo horses. I had a few racing yards and more than enough hacks and dressage clients.
In 2017 I made the move to the UK and started up here in the Cotswolds. Seeing as I live about 1 mile from Marshfield it seemed a good place to start. Life here is very different but I am having a ball and I can’t wait to help you and your horses. Personally I find hand tools to my liking so I use them. The finish and ability to take off as little tooth as possible at a time works for me. After all, you can take it off, but you can’t put it back on. I have had an amazing career in South Africa and have loved the friendships I have made with both the horses and the riders.
I hope to meet you soon and to help your horses live the most comfortable and full life that I can help them achieve. If you have an queries please don’t hesitate to call me or whats app me. I am happy to field questions. I will travel wherever there are horses, that being said if you are near Ben Nevis then we will need a lot of horses 🙂
